Everything you need to know about the free FIFA Fan Festival in Houston — location, what's inside, match schedule, getting there, and tips for surviving the Texas heat.
The World Cup has arrived in Houston and you do not need a ticket to NRG Stadium to be part of it. The FIFA Fan Festival is the city's official World Cup hub — free, open every day, and packed with experiences that rival the matches themselves.
Here is everything you need to know before you go.
The FIFA Fan Festival is the official free public celebration zone for the 2026 World Cup. Houston's festival is located in East Downtown, known locally as EaDo, next to Shell Energy Stadium at 2301 Dallas Street. It runs every single day of the World Cup — from now through July 4 — and admission is completely free on a first-come, first-served basis.
Think of it as a massive soccer-themed block party that never stops. Live match screenings on giant screens, music performances, food and drinks, interactive soccer experiences, and fan zones representing nations from around the world. It is where Houston becomes the world for three weeks.
The festival is built for the Houston heat. Organizers have installed misting zones, water stations, and shaded areas throughout the venue so you can stay comfortable even in June Texas temperatures.
Inside you will find:
EaDo sits just east of downtown Houston. If you are driving, parking near Shell Energy Stadium is available but fills up fast on match days. Plan to arrive early — at least 90 minutes before a match screening if you want a good spot.
Houston also launched Via Fútbol — a pedestrian wayfinding system designed specifically for World Cup visitors. Blue hexagon markings on the ground and bold purple signs guide fans from downtown toward Houston Stadium, the Fan Festival, and METRO stations. Follow the blue if you get turned around.
The METRO rail connects downtown to several neighborhoods but does not run directly to NRG Stadium or the Fan Festival entrance. A rental car gives you the most flexibility — park once and move between the festival, watch party bars, and your hotel on your own schedule.
Every match of the tournament screens at the Fan Festival regardless of location. But the seven matches being played right here at Houston Stadium add extra energy to the festival on those days:
On Houston match days the city's energy shifts completely. The Fan Festival will be at maximum capacity — arrive early or plan to watch from one of the many nearby bars instead.
Houston in June is hot. Genuinely hot. Bring water, wear light clothing, and take advantage of the misting zones. Sunscreen is not optional.
Cash is less important than you think — most vendors accept cards and mobile payments. But having some on hand never hurts at a festival.
Wear your team's jersey. The Fan Festival is one of the few places on earth where you will stand next to fans from 48 different nations all cheering for different teams. The atmosphere is unlike anything Houston has seen before.

The Fan Festival is one stop on what should be a full Houston experience. Between matches and screenings, the city has neighborhoods worth exploring — Midtown for nightlife, the Galleria for shopping, Buffalo Bayou Park for outdoor time, and the Houston Museum District for something cultural.
None of these are walkable from each other. Houston is a driving city and the best way to experience all of it is with your own vehicle.
