Weekday Rentals Are the Simplest Case

Monday through Thursday, pricing is exactly what it looks like: the daily rate, multiplied by the number of days. No surcharges, no adjustments, nothing hiding underneath. If a trip lands entirely on weekdays, the price shown is the price paid.

Weekend Nights Work a Little Differently

Friday and Saturday nights include a small surge fee on top of the daily rate. This isn't hidden in fine print. It's shown clearly before booking, and it only applies to the actual weekend nights themselves, not the whole rental. A trip that includes a Friday and Saturday night picks up that fee for those two nights specifically, nothing more.

Why the Fee Exists At All

Weekend demand is genuinely higher. More people need a vehicle on Friday and Saturday than on a random Tuesday, and that demand affects availability the same way it does everywhere else in travel and hospitality. The surge fee reflects that reality rather than pretending pricing stays flat regardless of demand.

Here's what that looks like in real numbers. A 2018 Toyota Camry XSE rents for $50 a day. Book it Monday through Wednesday — three weekday nights — and the total is $150, plain daily rate, no surge.

Book the same car Friday through Sunday — same three days, same vehicle — and two of those nights are Friday and Saturday. That's $150 in daily rate plus $20 in surge fees ($10 a night), for a total of $170.

Weekly and Monthly Rentals Skip the Surge Entirely

Here's the part worth knowing if a trip runs a week or longer: the surge fee doesn't apply at all once a rental qualifies for the weekly or monthly rate. Those are flat, bundled prices, and they stay flat no matter how many Fridays or Saturdays fall inside the rental period. A two-week rental that happens to include two full weekends still prices at the flat weekly rate, twice, with nothing extra added.

Extensions Follow the Same Rules

If a rental gets extended, the extension is priced on its own, using the same logic as any new booking. A short extension that lands on a weekend night picks up the surge for that night. An extension long enough to qualify for the weekly rate does not, even if it touches a weekend.
