Why DriveonHTX
Asks for
Identity
Verification
— And Why
That Protects
You

Most rental companies glance at your license for three seconds. DriveonHTX verifies every renter through Stripe Identity before a booking is confirmed — here's why that protects you, and exactly what happens to your information.

When you book at an airport rental counter, the agent glances at your license for three seconds and hands you the keys. That is the extent of identity verification at most major rental companies.

DriveonHTX does things differently. Every booking requires identity verification through Stripe Identity before your rental is confirmed. Some customers wonder why a small local platform goes further than Hertz or Enterprise. The answer protects everyone — including you.

What Is Stripe Identity?

Stripe Identity is the same verification technology used by banks and major platforms worldwide. When you verify through DriveonHTX you are asked to:

The process takes about 60 seconds on your phone. Your information is encrypted and handled directly by Stripe. DriveonHTX never stores your ID documents.

Why We Require It

We will be honest about something most rental companies will not say. We are not trying to out-market Enterprise, Hertz, or Budget for generic Houston car rental searches. We are a small local business. We win by doing specific things better than anyone else in our market.

One of those things is knowing exactly who is driving our vehicles.

When a major rental company rents 500 cars a day, individual verification is not practical. They absorb fraud losses as a cost of doing business and pass those costs to customers through higher prices and hidden fees.

DriveonHTX has 10 carefully maintained vehicles. Each one is a significant investment. Knowing who drives our fleet is not optional — it is how we keep our prices fair for legitimate customers.

How It Protects You

Identity verification creates accountability in both directions. When you verify your identity you confirm that nobody can fraudulently book a vehicle in your name. Your identity is tied to your booking reference. If someone tries to use your information, the selfie verification stops them immediately.

What Happens to Your Information

Stripe handles all identity document processing. DriveonHTX receives a verification result — approved or declined — but never receives or stores your ID images. Your verification is tied to your booking and is not shared with third parties or used for marketing.

What If Verification Fails?

Legitimate customers almost never fail verification. The most common issues are poor lighting or a blurry ID photo. If verification fails you are prompted to try again. If it still cannot be completed, contact us at support@driveonhtx.com and we will work with you directly.

The Bigger Picture

We know we will never outrank Enterprise or Hertz for "car rental Houston" on Google. Those companies have decades of history and marketing budgets no local business can match directly.

What we can do is be the best option for customers who find us. Identity verification is one of the things that makes DriveonHTX genuinely different from a corporate counter. When you book with us you are dealing with a real person who verified your identity and has a direct stake in your experience.

That is not something any airport counter can offer.
